Summer Session COVID-19 update
We hope everyone is home safe and healthy. We wanted to share some updates with regards to golf and our programs throughout our service area. Golf courses in LA County are now open, but with strict guidelines. Driving ranges are open, although currently putting greens and short game areas are closed. Certain golf courses are allowing one-on-one lessons, others are not. As of now, group instruction and tournaments are not permitted. But restrictions are being changed on a constant basis.
Here at the First Tee Greater Pasadena, we are preparing to conduct our summer session starting the week of July 6th through July 12th and run for 8-consecutive weeks. Registration is now open for the summer session on our website. To view our current summer session schedule and to register, please see below and click the Register Now Button on our home page.
Understand that we (FTGP) must follow the safety guidelines of LA County and the local cities where each golf course is located. If for some reason group instruction restrictions will not be lifted by July 6th, we will postpone and push-back the start date for summer until those restrictions are lifted. Currently the ONLY golf course that we received approval to conduct our summer session classes is at Brookside in Pasadena. We received this approval through the City of Pasadena Health Department. Classes that were schedule for LA County Courses (Altadena, Eaton Canyon) have been moved to Brookside. In addition, Alhambra and South Pasadena classes have been moved to Brookside. Currently on classes scheduled for Marshall Canyon (in La Verne) and Diamond Bar have been canceled.
Currently, we our conducting a non-instructional program called, “Let’s Go Play With A First Tee Coach”. This program allows (3) participants to play 9-holes with a First Tee Greater Pasadena coach. For more information and to sign-up, please visit our Let’s Go Play page under our program section. Let’s GO PLAY WITH A First Tee Coach is currently being held during the month of June. If group instruction restrictions are not lifted by July 6th, we will continue to offer this program until group instruction is allowed.
How can you help make a difference?
• Please review our COVID-19 Safety Measures. This information is available under our Program Section called COVID-19 Safety Measures.
• Speak with your child/children with regards to these COVID-19 Safety Measures.
• Once group instruction starts, please be patient during our registration process. Registration will take longer for the 1st couple of weeks until parents and participants get familiar with this new process.
• Arrive on time. Late arrivals will make registration and warm-up a challenge to our staff and the other youth participants in the class.
• Follow the safety rules at the golf courses where your child will attend.
• Please continue to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.
• Refer a friend. We are always looking for new participants to be exposed to this great game!
Recently we conducted a COVID-19 safety training for our coaching staff. We at First Tee Greater Pasadena are extremely excited to re-open our program and continue to impact the lives of Greater Pasadena area youth by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
